Simran finishes fourth in women’s 100m T12 final at Paris Paralympics | Paris Paralympics News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: India’s Simran secured the fourth position in the women’s 100 T12 final at the Paris Paralympics on Thursday. With her guide Abhay Singh by her side, Simran completed the sprint race in 12.31 seconds, finishing last among the four competitors.
The gold medal was clinched by Cuba’s Omara Durand Elias, who was accompanied by her guide Yuniol Kindelan.Elias clocked an impressive timing of 11.81 seconds, securing a comfortable victory.
Ukraine’s Oksana Boturchuk, guided by Mykata Barabanov, claimed the silver medal with a timing of 12.17 seconds. The bronze medal went to Germany’s Katrin Mueller, who was guided by Noel-Phillippe Fiener and recorded a time of 12.26 seconds.
Simran, the current world champion hailing from New Delhi, secured her spot in the final on Thursday morning by recording a time of 12.33 in the semifinals. The 24-year-old athlete finished second in semifinal 2, behind Katrin Mueller-Rottgardt of Germany.
Despite being born prematurely with visual impairment, Simran demonstrated her prowess by ranking third overall in the semifinals. Her performance in the heats on Wednesday was even more impressive, as she clocked a season’s best time of 12.17.
The T12 category, in which Simran competes, is specifically designed for athletes who have visual impairment.
