As many as six passengers including a four-year-old girl sustained injuries after a bus carrying passengers from Pratapgarh to Delhi overturned in Kanakha, Mohanlalganj, on Thursday night.
Police said that prima facie it appears that the high-speed bus lost control and crashed onto a car, resulting in injuries to over a dozen passengers.
The incident occurred around 11 pm, when the bus, traveling with 55 passengers, lost control and overturned on a car, trapping a family of four inside.The locals heard a loud nose and alerted the police.
A police team reached the spot and launched a rescue operation to free those trapped. A young child who was stuck in the rear of the car was rescued and sent to the KGMU trauma center.
The occupants of the car, including a couple and a child, also sustained injuries.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mohanlalganj, Rajneesh Kumar along with the SHO arrived at the scene with additional police force to conduct the rescue operation.
“We first rescued the trapped individuals from the car, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. One four-year-old Samreen sustained a fracture, others suffered minor injuries and were discharged,” said ACP Kumar.
In the bus two passengers sustained minor injuries. The car owner Amandeep was stranded and trying to help an injured bicycle rider when the bus crashed on his car, said the police.
