'Small incident': Digvijaya Singh after kin booked for accosting police

BHOPAL: An FIR was registered against former MLA Lakshman Singh‘s son Aditya Vikram Singh – Congress MP Digvijaya Singh‘s nephew – after he confronted police officers in public in Raghogarh on Friday and tried to stop a nukkad natak being organised by the district administration for awareness on women safety.
A video shows him having a heated exchange with a woman police officer as he puffs away on a cigarette.
The FIR was registered against Aditya and his driver at Raghogarh police station under BNS sections 132 , 121(1) and 3(5) for alleged obstruction of govt work.
Digvijaya sought to defend his nephew and said, “Someone told me (about the incident) last evening, I tried to find out. It was a small incident. He (Aditya) was going somewhere. The administration had organised a nukkad natak on the road. He did not know of it and hence, he had some dispute with police. The police will do their work, we have nothing to say about that. Whatever happens, we will see about it.”
The state BJP criticised the incident and former CM Digvijaya’s reaction to it. State BJP spokesman Narendra Saluja posted on X, “If the nephew takes law into his hands, intimidates a woman police officer, threatens to beat up police officers in public, behaves indecently, blows cigarette smoke on them, then according to Digvijaya Singh ji, this is a ‘small incident’. Not a single word of condemnation, no advice to him on his behaviour. On the contrary, he is saying police did what they had to do and ‘we will see what can be done’. Such double standard.”
