Student ‘loses vision after slap’, principal, teacher named in FIR | India News – Times of India

MEERUT: Following a Chief Judicial Magistrate court order, police in Meerut lodged an FIR against principal and yoga instructor of a govt-run Army Public School in Meerut Cant, for ‘slapping a Class 7 student who later turned blind’.
The student’s mother, Indu Devi, said her son is suffering from a retinal problem and had very low vision, & after the yoga instructor, Daksh, slapped him, there was further damage.She said the principal, despite knowing about the incident that took place last year, didn’t take action. The child underwent five major eye surgeries, but lost his vision.
Police have registered an FIR under IPC sections 325, 351 and 201, among others.
Principal, Rita Gupta, said, “The student was involved in a scuffle and the teacher intervened. The teacher said he just tapped the child. But, even that’s unacceptable. His services were terminated.”
