Often associated with comedic roles, the Hollywood actress Teri Garr breathed her last on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The ‘Tootsie’ star was aged 79.

According to Variety, Teri Garr was battling with multiple sclerosis. One won’t be able to forget the character Sandy Lester brought to life by Teri Garr for the movie ‘Tootsie’ which was released in the year 1982. Teri Garr was also nominated as Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar for her magnificent performance in Sydney Pollack’s directorial.

Taking a deeper look into her contributions to Hollywood, Teri Garr is best known for her performance in the 1974 film ‘Young Frankenstein’ which was directed by Mel Brooks. Teri Garr played the role of Inga in this comedy film that told the story of an American grandson who struggles to prove that his grandfather Frankenstein was not as insane as people believed him to be.
Apart from her memorable roles in ‘Tootsie’ and ‘Young Frankenstein’, Teri Garr breathed life into several characters in popular TV shows and movies. Having worked with veteran filmmakers Martin Scorsese, Spielberg, Mel Brooks, Coppola, and many others, Teri Garr’s first speaking role was in the film ‘Head’ which was directed by Bob Rafelson.
