India is gearing up to face Sri Lanka in a white-ball series commencing on July 27. This marks India’s first bilateral white-ball tour to the island nation since 2021, with the squad for the tour yet to be announced. The BCCI is expected to unveil the squads for both T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka today, however, there is no confirmation from the board as of yet.

Virat Kohli to feature in Sri Lanka series?
In a significant development for Indian cricket, Virat Kohli has made himself available for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, responding to a special request from Gautam Gambhir. As reported by Express Sports, Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma, will join the squad for what will be Gambhir’s debut assignment as the coach in the 50-over format.
Initially, Gautam Gambhir had requested both senior players to participate, recognizing their experience and leadership as crucial for the team’s success. While Rohit Sharma decided to cut his vacation short to heed Gambhir’s call, Virat Kohli was initially granted further rest. However, the situation has now changed. According to reports, Kohli will also cut short his family vacation in London and join the team for the three-match series against Sri Lanka.
Virat Kohli’s decision to make himself available is a significant boost for the Indian team, given his status as a modern great in cricket. His presence is expected to provide stability and confidence to the squad, especially under the new coaching regime of Gautam Gambhir.
