New Zealand Spinner Ajaz Patel Reveals The Turning Point In Mumbai Test vs India

While interacting with the media, New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel revealed that the Mumbai Test was sealed by the visiting side after he picked up India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant ‘s wicket.

“In terms of the Mumbai game, in those types of games, you have to believe regardless of whoever is in front of you. So, for us, the belief started before we got out Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli . We had to believe that the runs we hit on the board were enough to win the game.

“Obviously, we got a few early wickets and the belief became stronger… but obviously when Rishabh Pant was batting there was a chance that he could have taken the game away from us… It is important to keep the same calmness and control what you can control,” Ajaz Patel said.

Ajaz’s Patel trapped Rishabh Pant, and he was dismissed in the 22nd over of the fourth innings. The Stumper was the sole hope for the Indian Cricket Team, who were struggling against the Blackcaps throughout the Test series. But Pant held hopes high after scoring a 64-run knock off 57 balls with a strike rate of 112.28. India had the hope of winning a consolation win, but after Pant’s wickets fell, the tides totally turned as New Zealand went on to make history after becoming the first team to whitewash India in a series of three or more matches.

Ajaz earned the ‘Player of the Match’ accolade after he scalped 11 wickets in the game, making his total count to 15 scalps at an average of 23.80 throughout the series against India.
