‘They pin you to the ground … ‘: Male victim recounts ‘rape’ at hands of Hamas – Times of India

A man shared his harrowing experience of being stripped naked and getting raped by members of Hamas during the attack on the Supernova music festival on October 7 that killed some 1,200 people — mostly civilians — and abducted about 250.
In an interview to Channel 12, the victim detailed for the first time how he was subjected to humiliation and cruel treatment by the attackers.Describing the assault, he said, “They pin you to the ground, you try to resist, they take off your clothes, laugh at you, humiliate you, spit at you.”
“They touched parts, they rape you.”
Narrating the trauma, he said, “There is a circle, [people] laugh, and you don’t know what to do in the moment, whether you should resist or let it pass, how to deal with the situation.”
“There was a very difficult rape,” he added. “It’s a very tough moment. Weakness in the entire body. As if your blood is cheap.”
Describing the apathy of his attackers, the victim said, “They were wildly intoxicated, celebrating, laughing with their pistols, with their knives.”
As the ordeal continued, other Hamas members arrived, ordering the rapists to stop in order to continue their violent rampage. Amid the chaos, the victim managed to escape with other survivors who were assisted by the Israel defense forces.
The victim dealt with traumatic memories of the incident and said, “[I take] a lot, a lot of showers, to get all that energy off me, everything that happened.”
The testimony is one among many being collected by Israeli police to document the scale of sexual assaults during the October 7 attack. These testimonies are part of a significant lawsuit filed by over 100 survivors of the festival, demanding more than $137 million in government support due to the severe impact on their lives.
A United Nations report on sexual violence in conflict has found ‘reasonable grounds to believe that conflict-related sexual violence occurred during the 7 October attacks in multiple locations across the Gaza periphery, including rape and gang rape, in at least three locations.’ The report also indicates clear evidence that some of the more than 250 hostages kidnapped by Hamas were raped and that those still in captivity continue to face such abuse.
