RAJKOT: A married woman’s lover, who was the real target of her family members, escaped unscathed, but a friend accompanying him was murdered when they launched a brutal attack on the duo in a village of Amreli district’s Rajula taluka.
The woman, Ekta Lakhanotra, had an extramarital affair with a man named Nag Vanzar after connecting on Instagram six months ago.On learning about the romantic relationship, her family became enraged as she was already married, and they decided to eliminate him.
As per the plot, they forced Ekta to make a phone call to Vanzar and call him to meet at a pre-decided place in Barpatoli village on Oct 21 night. An unsuspecting Vanzar requested his friend Makwana to accompany him to meet Ekta. When the duo reached the place, Ekta’s brother Kanu, her brother-in-law Naag Wagh, and five others ambushed them. While Vanzar somehow managed to escape from there, Makwana couldn’t, and the assailants started raining blows on him with sticks and pipes.
On the morning of Oct 22, an ambulance service informed Makwana’s father, Bhopa, that his son was found on the road to Barpatoli and taken to Rajula govt hospital. He was subsequently transferred to hospitals in Mahuva and Bhavnagar, where he succumbed.
In his police complaint, Makwana’s father mentioned that his son left home that day, saying he was going to his workplace at Pipavav Port, where he worked as a driver for a transport company.
Investigation Officer at Rajula police station, Vijay Koladra, said that Vanzar, who previously worked in a Surat diamond polishing unit, recently returned to their native village, Jamka.
The Rajula police have formed teams to track down the suspects using technical surveillance and human intelligence.
