India’s badminton star Satwiksairaj Rankireddy got himself an absolute fanboy moment when he met the Tennis legend, Spain’s own Rafael Nadal, at the Olympic Village in Paris. Rankireddy shared the moment on the social media platform Instagram, where he shared a picture with the legendary Spaniard on his Stories.
“Day 1 of Olympic Village. With the beast,” Satwiksairaj Rankireddy wrote on the picture. Both of them could be seen giving a wide grin as the superstars aim for the highest prize in the event: The Gold Medal.
In the Paris Olympics, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will partner with Chirag Shetty in the badminton Men’s Doubles, and the duo will be the country’s biggest hope for a medal in the particular sector. On the other hand, Rafael Nadal will pair up alongside the Wimbledon Champion Carlos Alcaraz. They will be the strongest teams in the men’s doubles category of Tennis and they will be in the hunt for the coveted gold when they set foot into competition.
India had their best-ever record in the multi-sport event by winning seven medals at Tokyo, including one gold, two silver, and four bronze. The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris will start on July 26 and end on August 11. India’s 117 participants will compete in 20 different sports in Paris.
