‘Unforgettable’: Jasprit Bumrah gets a grand reception at Chennai college. Watch | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Star India speedster Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as one of India’s most celebrated cricketers in recent times.
His popularity was vividly evident during an event at the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, where his arrival was met with great enthusiasm by those in attendance.
The moment, captured in a video that later circulated widely on social media, showcased the high regard in which Bumrah is held.
The cricketer himself acknowledged the warm reception and vibrant atmosphere through a post on his social media account.
“The energy and enthusiasm of the crowd made it truly unforgettable! Thank you @sathyabama.official and Chancellor @mariazeena_johnson for the warm welcome and vibrant atmosphere!” the pacer wrote on Instagram.
In the video, Bumrah is seen making his entrance in a luxury vehicle, welcomed by the event’s organizing committee. Wearing a smoky blue half-sleeve shirt paired with grey trousers, the 30-year-old fast bowler displayed the calm demeanour he is known for.

Bumrah’s most recent competitive appearance was during the T20 World Cup final in Barbados on June 29, where he played a pivotal role in India’s victory.
His contribution of two wickets in the final was instrumental in India securing their first ICC trophy in over a decade, a performance that also earned him the Player of the Tournament accolade.
Following this achievement, India’s new coach, Gautam Gambhir, opted to rest Bumrah for the subsequent series against Sri Lanka, allowing him time to recover before upcoming engagements.
He is scheduled to participate in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in September, with the opening match set to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
This series precedes India’s engagements against New Zealand and a subsequent tour to South Africa for T20I series before the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
