BHUBANESWAR: Union minister Jual Oram’s wife, Jhingia Oram, passed away due to dengue during treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, family sources reported. She died at around 10.50 pm on Saturday night. Jhingia Oram, aged 58, is survived by her husband and two daughters.
Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram is also suffering from dengue and is undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his grief over the passing of Jhingia Oram and visited the hospital late Saturday night.
Other dignitaries who paid their last respects included Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, health minister Mukesh Mahaling, Speaker Surama Padhy, and several BJP leaders.
Majhi expressed his condolences, stating, “Jhingia was a pious, soft-spoken person, who involved herself in social and charitable works. Jhingia Oram played an important role in Jual’s long political journey.”
Jual Oram and Jhingia were married on March 8, 1987.
Her funeral is scheduled to take place at their village in Sundargarh district, according to family sources.
