‘Union ministers and BJP leaders getting fake votes made’: Arvind Kejriwal writes to CEC, urges action | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has raised serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing its leaders of manipulating the voter list in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. In a letter addressed to the chief election commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, Kejriwal called for strict action, including an FIR against those involved, and demanded the disqualification of BJP candidate Parvesh Verma if the allegations are proven.
Kejriwal’s letter alleges that BJP leaders and Union ministers are creating fake voter entries using their residential addresses in an attempt to influence the upcoming elections. He specifically pointed to an application for adding 33 new votes at the residence of BJP candidate Parvesh Verma.
“If this has happened with the will of the BJP candidate, then Parvesh Verma should be immediately disqualified from contesting elections,” Kejriwal wrote.
Allegations of large-scale manipulation
“BJP’s attempt to fraudulently delete 5,500 genuine votes—5.5% of the total—and add 13,000 fake votes, representing 13% of existing voters, could have permanently altered the constituency by a staggering 18%,” he claimed.
Kejriwal compared these alleged tactics to the booth-capturing practices of the past but noted that this form of electoral manipulation was more insidious. “This is worse than traditional booth capturing, as it’s being done secretly, away from public scrutiny,” he added.

Transfer of votes to BJP MPs’ residences
The letter further accuses BJP of transferring votes from across the country to addresses of its members of Parliament and Union ministers residing in the New Delhi constituency. “Shockingly, 33 new votes have been submitted for transfer to BJP candidate Parvesh Verma’s official residence,” Kejriwal alleged.
Demand for urgent action
Kejriwal urged the Election Commission to act swiftly to ensure the integrity of the voter rolls. “These tactics undermine the democratic process and the will of the people. An impartial inquiry is critical to restore faith in the electoral system,” he said.
The allegations have added a new layer of tension to the political battle in the capital as both parties gear up for the Assembly elections. The BJP is yet to issue an official response to the accusations. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has not commented on the matter as of now.
