The couple, in a relationship for over a year, faced opposition from the girlfriend’s family. Heated arguments during a five-hour call preceded the tragic incident. Authorities are investigating further.

LUCKNOW: A 21-year-old electrician, Asgar Ali, hanged himself while on a video call with his girlfriend in Bhatani town of UP’s Deoria district on Wednesday morning.
Police have seized his phone and will soon be questioning the girlfriend to ascertain the events leading to the incident.
According to initial findings by police, Asgar was in a relationship with the woman for over a year.
The couple wanted to marry, but the girl’s family opposed the union. On Tuesday night, Asgar phoned her and the two kept talking for nearly five hours.
During the conversation, they had an argument, following which he made the drastic decision to end his life, police said.
