Jannik Sinner is on the verge of making history at the Flushing Meadows after his strong showcase at the US Open Tennis Championships. After Novak Djoković and Carlos Alcaraz were ousted from the tournament, Sinner became the top draw to win the title. The Italian tennis star did not let the doping case get the best of him as he powered through against Jack Draper in a physical match, which took a toll on both the athletes’ health.

Jannik Sinner reaches US Open men’s Singles Final, puts up a fighting effort against Jack Draper
The top-ranked Sinner was the better player throughout and finished off a 7-5, 7-6 (3), 6-2 victory over Draper to reach his first title match at Flushing Meadows — and second at a Grand Slam tournament his year. It is the first time in history that an Italian man has reached the US Open Singles Final. The match went on for three hours and Sinner was the last man standing while battling an injury. In the previous edition, Sinner was ousted in the pre-quarters, but he powered through this time and battled for over three hours against Jack Draper.
“It was a very physical match, as we see. I just tried to stay there mentally. Whoever it is, it’s going to be a very tough challenge for me. But I’m just looking forward to it,” said Jannik Sinner

While Sinner and Draper put on a tough fight, both competitors had to be looked at during a changeover. Jannik Sinner had to get his left wrist massaged, while Jack Draper needed medical attention after throwing up twice at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Draper vomited on the court and was struggling with his health. He also took a break due to the discomfort, and it looked tough for him to continue.
But Jack Draper continued the fight and kept Sinner on the edge in the first two sets. But Sinner pulled off a comeback and Draper’s momentum derailed after that.
Sinner will now face the winner of the second semifinal match between Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe.
