NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sneha Dube Pandit is leading from Vasai constituency in Maharashtra assembly election. Pandit has a lead of over 4,000 votes against Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi‘s Hitendra Vishnu Thakur, who won the seat in the 2019 election.
As of the latest election commission data, the BJP-led Mahayuti is on track to retain power in Maharashtra, leading in 217 of the 288 assembly seats.

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is struggling, with its candidates leading in just 50 seats.
In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, Thakur won the seat, securing 102,950 votes. He defeated Shiv Sena’s Vijay Govind Patil, who received 76,955 votes. Thakur’s victory margin was 25,995 votes, indicating a clear win for BVA in the region.
In the 2014, Hitendra Vishnu Thakur, representing the Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi, once again secured victory, with 97,291 votes. He defeated Independent candidate Vivek Raghunath Pandit (Bhau), who received 65,395 votes, with Thakur winning by a significant margin of 31,896 votes.
In the 2009, independent candidate Vivek Raghunath Pandit (Bhau) emerged victorious, securing 81,358 votes. He defeated Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi’s Narayan Mankar, who received 64,560 votes, with Pandit winning by a margin of 16,798 votes.
