A Chick-fil-A employee in Stone Mountain, Georgia, demonstrated extraordinary bravery when he fought off an armed robber who held a gun to his face, according to USA Today.
Kevin Blair, an inventory specialist at the fast-food restaurant, faced a harrowing ordeal in the early hours of July 1 when a would-be thief broke into the store through a drive-thru window. The robber threatened Blair, saying he would die if he did not open the safe. Blair, who did not know the safe’s combination, decided to confront the attacker rather than comply.

Blair recounted his courageous stance to WANF-TV, saying, “Well, if you’re going to shoot me, I’m not going to make it easy.” Surveillance footage from the restaurant captured the intense struggle as Blair and the robber grappled in the kitchen. Blair managed to disarm the attacker, who was reportedly trying to wrestle Blair into submission. Despite being hit and kicked, Blair’s focus remained on keeping the gun away from himself. Eventually, the robber fled through a rear exit, leaving Blair unharmed and the safe untouched.
“The only thing that was going through my mind is, ‘I want to see my kids,'” Blair told the station. “Either way, I think the situation was best played out the way it played out because I’m talking to you today, and he’s behind bars,” Blair said, according to USA Today.
Blair, who has worked at Chick-fil-A for over a decade, including two and a half years at the Stone Mountain location, was praised for his bravery. His quick thinking and refusal to surrender ensured that no one was hurt in the attempted robbery.
Police arrested 51-year-old Tommie Lee Williams in connection with the incident. Williams faces multiple charges, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, second-degree burglary, and kidnapping. Authorities identified the vehicle used in the attempted robbery, leading to Williams’ arrest.
