The second ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo on Sunday saw a dramatic run-out of Akila Dananjaya when India skipper Rohit Sharma missed hitting the stumps direct, but had the street-smart Virat Kohli backing up with game-awareness to remove the bails at the other end with the batsman short of his crease while trying to look for a second run on overthrow.
It was the last ball of the innings for Sri Lanka, who decided to bat first after winning the toss at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Jeffrey Vandersay played the ball straight to Rohit at mid-off and ran to steal a single. The skipper went for a direct hit at the non-striker’s end but missed. However, Virat backed up the throw smartly, sprinted to the striker’s end and removed the bails after he saw Dananjaya (15) trying to look for an overthrow and was well out of his crease.
