Watch: Sky turns orange as Hezbollah fires 30 rockets at Israel, US orders deployment of guided missile submarine – Times of India

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday reported that Hezbollah millitants fired around 30 rockets from Lebanon into northern Israel overnight. The rockets, which were fired in a nighttime barrage, landed in open areas, and the IDF confirmed that there were no casualties.
According to the IDF, the rockets crossed from Lebanese territory into the Kabari region in northern Israel. In response to the attack, the IDF stated that its forces are striking the areas in Lebanon from which the rockets were fired.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the IDF said, “Further to the alerts that were activated in the north of the country in the last hour, about 30 launches were detected that crossed from the territory of Lebanon to the Kabari region, and a number of crashes were detected in open areas. There are no casualties. IDF forces attack the sources of the shooting.”

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the barrage, with the Hezbollah-affiliated Al Mayadeen news site reporting that the group targeted an Israeli military base.

In response to the recent attack, Lloyd Austin, the US defense secretary, announced the deployment of a guided missile submarine to the region, as confirmed by the Pentagon. This move comes amidst heightened tensions and concerns over the stability of the area.
According to a readout from the US defense department released on Monday night, Secretary Austin engaged in a discussion with Israel’s defense minister, Yoav Gallant, on Sunday evening. During the conversation, Austin conveyed that the US has dispatched two ships and one submarine to Israel, with the aim of providing support and strengthening their defense capabilities. He emphasized the United States’ unwavering commitment to ensuring the security and defense of Israel.
Furthermore, the Pentagon’s statement revealed that Secretary Austin has directed the Abraham Lincoln strike group to expedite its deployment to the region.
Tensions in West Asia have risen after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on July 31 that Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an attack in Tehran, Iran’s capital.
