NEW DELHI: A video of an altercation between a passenger and pantry staff has gone viral on social media after the passenger, who was a vegetarian was mistakenly served non-vegetarian food. The event snowballed into chaos after the agitated passenger “gave two tight slaps” to the waiter upon finding out it was non-veg that he had consumed.
Kunal Verma, a fellow passenger who recorded the entire incident on July 26, said in his post on X that the elderly passenger in the Vande Bharat train consumed the food parcel without taking note of the label in the parcel.

However, the elderly passenger’s action irked co-passengers, who immediately objected to his actions. In the video, the passenger questions, “Where is it mentioned?” possibly referring to the lack of a non-vegetarian symbol on the food parcel.
A fellow passenger reprimands him, saying, “Why would you slap him? Look at your age.” The waiter is seen apologizing, while other passengers demand an apology from the elderly man, with several condemning his action and expressing shock at his treatment of the waiter.
In a separate video, the elderly passenger is seen arguing with another co-passenger, who tells him, “You should be ashamed of yourself,” criticising him as “oversmart.”
This incident follows another from January, where a video of two passengers arguing over luggage space on a Vande Bharat Express went viral, showing the two men shouting at each other until a railway officer intervened to defuse the situation.
