A recent photograph of Sri Lanka’s World Cup-winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga, shared by former Indian cricket team skipper Kapil Dev, has taken social media by storm. Fans are astonished by the picture of the legendary cricketer, who led Sri Lanka to their historic 1996 Cricket World Cup victory.

Fans shocked as Kapil Dev shares pic with former Sri Lanka captain

Arjuna Ranatunga, a key figure in Sri Lanka’s cricketing history, transitioned to politics after retiring from the sport. He served as a Member of Parliament in Sri Lanka, continuing to make an impact off the cricket field. The viral photo, featuring Ranatunga alongside Kapil Dev, has sparked widespread reactions, with many fans expressing their disbelief at the cricketer’s current appearance.

Meanwhile, India are scheduled to play a white-ball series against Sri Lanka starting this month. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a revised schedule for the tour, postponing the start of the series by a day. Originally set to begin on July 26, the first T20 International will now take place on July 27 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The subsequent T20 matches are scheduled for July 28 and July 30 at the same venue.

Following the T20 series, the One Day Internationals (ODIs) will commence on August 2, with the remaining matches on August 4 and August 7, all to be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

This tour marks India’s first bilateral series under the newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir. India last toured the island nation in 2021 when a second-string Indian side, led by Shikhar Dhawan and coached by Rahul Dravid, emerged victorious in both the T20I and ODI series.

India has yet to announce its squad for the tour. Reports indicate that senior players such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are likely to be rested.
