India vs Bangladesh : India were reeling at 34 for three when Rishabh Pant walked out to bat at the Chepauk. It was a brilliant start by Bangladesh , especially Hasan Mahmud, who picked up three crucial wickets. But once Pant, who is playing his first Test in more than a year, came out to bat it was a little surprising. It was surprising because KL Rahul was slated to bat after the third wicket. It was even more surprising as Virat Kohli was dismissed and with left-hander Jaiswal in the middle one would have expected Rahul to walk out. Former India cricketer Parthiv Patel, who was watching the proceedings, was also surprised. But then he explained the reason behind the move.

‘Was Surprised’
“I was surprised, usually the coach and the captain want left and right combination going. We already had a left-hander in Yashasvi Jaiswal there and plus there’s another thing with KL Rahul . He’s usually, he’s a natural opener that’s when India had a lost a few wickets early on. So that’s where expecting KL to come in but Rishabh Pant had all the answers,” Patel told Jio Cinema.
“I’m sure there was a plan behind it, Bangladesh bowlers were not bowling as well to left handed batters. I think that could be the plan behind sending Rishabh ahead of KL Rahul ,” he added.
