US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed William “Bill” McGinley as his White House counsel on Tuesday, filling a vital position within the West Wing.
McGinley, who served as White House cabinet secretary for two-and-a-half years during Trump’s initial presidency, possesses extensive experience representing high-profile clients in matters concerning campaign finance and ethics.
His predecessor, Pat Cipollone, faced examination regarding counsel provided to Trump during attempts to challenge the 2020 election results.
“I am pleased to announce that William Joseph McGinley will serve as my White House counsel,” Trump, 78, said in a statement.
“Bill is a smart and tenacious lawyer who will help me advance our America First agenda while fighting for election integrity and against the weaponization of law enforcement,” he added.
“He (McGinley) served in his first term as White House cabinet secretary and played a major role in our election victory as the RNC’s outside counsel for election integrity,” he said.
The White House counsel holds significant responsibility in evaluating Supreme Court candidates and nominees.
“Bill has served as general counsel at the national republican senatorial committee, has been a partner at two international law firms, and will work with me as we Make America Great Again!” Trump declared.
