KOZHIKODE: A woman from Ponnani has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by former Malappuram district police chief S Sujith Das, who was suspended from service following charges levelled against him by Nilambur MLA P V Anvar.
The woman appeared on various news channels on Friday and claimed that the then Ponnani inspector of police, Vinod Veliyatoor, also sexually assaulted her, while former Tirur DSP V V Benny sexually harassed her.Meanwhile, the officers have denied the allegations and threatened legal action against her. The woman said that she first approached Ponnani police station regarding a case and alleged that inspector Veliyatoor came to her house during the investigation and sexually assaulted her. She also claimed that when she approached then Tirur DSP V V Benny with a complaint against the inspector, he sexually harassed her.
She also alleged that in connection with the same complaint she later met SP Sujith Das and he sexually assaulted her at the camp office in Malappuram, and later at another house. The woman said she decided to go public with her allegations against Das after MLA Anvar levelled charges against him.
In response, Sujith Das called the woman’s allegations false and malicious, claiming they were part of a conspiracy to attack him on a personal level. V V Benny, presently serving as Tanur DSP, described the allegations as completely baseless.
