Following the success of its inaugural edition, the World Championship of Legends (WCL) held its first review meeting in Dubai with League officials and the six franchise teams this week. The meeting aimed to standardize player eligibility criteria and ensure that the league, which attracted 300 million viewers globally in its debut season, continues to elevate game standards in its second edition.
The League co-owned by Bollywood icon and actor Ajay Devgan brought back the nostalgic memories of age-old India vs Pakistan and England vs Australia’s cricketing revelries as much as the milestone cricketing moments.
Led by WCL CEO and Founder, Harshit Tomar and Chief Consultant Vivek Chandra, along with the team owners, the strategic meeting aimed to establish clear guidelines for making the second edition more competitive and at par for all the participating teams.
“The collective commitment and enthusiasm displayed by all stakeholders highlight their dedication to the ongoing growth and success of the WCL. As we prepare for the exciting season ahead, the groundwork laid during this meeting promises to drive further achievements and elevate the WCL’s standing in the world of cricket,” said WCL CEO and Founder Mr. Harshit Tomar.
The collaborative discussions and shared insights were also crucial in laying a strong foundation for the league’s future, creating uniform player criteria and making all the playing teams more competitive at the same time maintaining the league’s competitiveness and entertainment value while upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship.
On the back of increased fan engagement and the successful execution of matches that reinforced WCL’s reputation as a leading platform for legendary cricketers globally, the discussions also encompassed plans for the upcoming WCL 2025 season.
The team owners, including Mr. Jaspal Bahra and Mr. Sumant Bahl (India Champions owners), Mr. Praveen Sharma (England Champions owner), Mr. Ajay Sethi (West Indies Champions owner), Mr. Kamil Khan (Pakistan Champions owner), Mr. Puneet Singh (Australia Champions owner), and Mr. Harry Singh and Mr. Amandeep Singh (South Africa Champions Owners), engaged in strategic planning aimed at expanding the league’s global reach and enhancing the fan engagement experiences ahead of the 2025 edition.
