NEW DELHI: Congress MLA Bhupathi Reddy on Tuesday attacked Pushpa 2 actor Allu Arjun and threatened to ban his films in the state. Reddy further said that Allu Arjun is from Andhra Pradesh and questioned his contribution to Telangana.
“You are just a guy who puts color and acts. And makes useless movies. What is that Pushpa movie? Is it a movie that helps the society? It’s just a movie about smuggling of red sandalwood. And you dare speak against our CM? You are from Andhra, and you came here for your livelihood. An immigrant, be like one. Keep the respect that we have given you. I say this as a ruling party MLA. How dare you speak against our CM? You are just an actor. What did you do for the society that you deserve our respect? What have you actors even contributed to Telangana? Be careful or we wouldn’t even let your movies release in Telangana,” said Reddy.
The MLA further alleged that the actor went to the theatre without any permission and when he was informed about the woman’s death, he said that the movie will be hit after a human sacrifice.
“What did you do? You went to a theatre without any permission. Our CM didn’t say it but I am telling you folks. A lady died in the stampede at the theatre. And when a police officer came and told you that a lady died and a kid was injured, do you know what he said? He said that a human sacrifice is done, and the movie will be a hit. What does that even mean? Does he even have humanity? You left only when the police officer insisted that this incident would create problems. After this, you dare talk against our CM. Be in your limits. You are an actor, a businessman. Not anything more,” Reddy added.
Earlier today, Hyderabad police summoned Allu Arjun and questioned him for four hours in connection with the theatre stampede case on December 4 that led to the death of a woman. The actor’s advocate said that Allu Arjun cooperated with the police and if required they’ll call him again.
Meanwhile, the actor at a press conference on December 21, called the stampede accidental and contested Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy’s claims about a pre-screening roadshow. He was arrested on December 13 and was later granted four-week bail by the Telangana high court.
