Rahul, along with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other party leaders, left Hotel Lalit in the Gupkar area in the city, where they were staying, to dine at Hotel Ahdoos, a well-known eatery for its Kashmiri ‘Wazwan’.
Following their meal, the group took a stroll to the nearby Pratap Park, located just a few meters from the iconic Clock Tower, where they enjoyed ice cream at a popular local parlour.
The high-profile visit to the bustling Residency Road area, the commercial heart of Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital, took everyone by surprise. A heavy security presence was established around the hotel, which overlooks the Jhelum river, ensuring their safety throughout the visit.
Rahul Gandhi arrived in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday for a two-day visit to assess the party’s preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in the Union Territory.
In this visit, he is also exploring a potential alliance with the National Conference (NC). Rahul, along with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, is set to attend key meetings related to the three-phased assembly elections, which are scheduled to begin on September 18.
