Adani ties up with Israel company for Rs 84k crore chip plant – Times of India

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Cabinet sub-committee on industry, chaired by chief minister Eknath Shinde, has given the green light to four high-tech industrial projects with a combined investment of Rs 1.2 lakh crore. These projects, to be set up in Marathwada, Vidarbha, Pune, and Panvel, are expected to generate over 29,000 jobs.
One of the approved projects is a semiconductor manufacturing unit, a joint venture between Israel’s Tower Semiconductor and Adani Group, which will be located at Taloja MIDC in Panvel.The project will be implemented in two phases, with a total investment of Rs 83,947 crore, focusing on the production of analog/mixed signals. “The manufacturing capacity will be 40,000 wafers per month in phase I and 80,000 wafers after phase and employing more than 5,000 personnel,” said an official.
In a meeting held on July 30, the cabinet sub-committee had already approved RRP Electronics’ semiconductor manufacturing project, along with other projects worth Rs 80,000 crore. With the latest approvals, the total value of projects approved in the last two months has reached Rs 2 lakh crore, with a potential to create 35,000 jobs.
Among other approved projects, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India will set up a unit in Pune with an integrated approach, investing Rs 12,000 crore and creating 1,000 jobs. The project will focus on manufacturing electric vehicles with usage of advanced technology. Additionally, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Company will set up an e-vehicle manufacturing project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar under the state’s Electric Vehicle Promotion Policy, with a total investment of Rs 21,273 crore and potential to create 12,000 jobs.
