ELI5 Note: Think of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) like a giant, connected TV show where each movie is an episode. This guide tells you what "episodes" are coming up after 2027.
Marvel has three massive movies planned for 2028. It’s going to be a superhero-packed year!
Important Callout: This is not a continuation of the old Fox X-Men movies. It’s a brand-new "reboot" – like hitting the reset button on a video game.

|---|---|
| Samara Weaving | Emma Frost (confirmed) |
| Adam Driver | Mister Sinister (villain) |
| Cooper Hoffman | Scott Summers / Cyclops |
| Charles Melton | Hank McCoy / Beast |

Announced at SDCC 2026 (San Diego Comic-Con – the biggest pop-culture convention).

| David Jonsson | T’Challa II (grown-up son of T’Challa – new) |
| Denzel Washington | Mystery role (huge get!) |

These don’t have locked dates yet, but they’re actively being worked on.
Context: The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes out in 2025. If it does well (and Marvel expects it to), this sequel is a go.
What is X-Force? Think of them as the "darker, grittier" cousins of the X-Men. More missions, less school.

It means Marvel is pretending the old X-Men movies (with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, etc.) never happened in this universe. Fresh cast, fresh story, fresh start.
Yes! Announced officially at SDCC 2026. He’ll play Johnny Blaze, the most famous Ghost Rider.
He’s the son of the original Black Panther (T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman). The movie jumps forward in time, so he’s now grown up – played by David Jonsson.
Marvel likely realized the character (a space hero with huge cosmic powers) deserves a big-screen budget and spectacle. Plus, Loki’s writer Michael Waldron is now on board.
Only the three 2028 movies have official dates. The "2029+" projects are in development but could shift. Marvel changes dates a lot – so stay flexible!
Final Thought: 2028 is shaping up to be a historic year for Marvel – mutants, monsters, and Wakanda all in one calendar. And the years after? Full of fan-favorites finally getting their due. Keep this guide handy, and you’ll never be lost when the trailers drop!
