FAQ: Your Burning Questions, Answered
1. Do I need a car for all of these?
Nope! Events marked M are right by Metro stations. For others, rideshare or parking apps (like SpotHero) work great. The Joint Seafood block party even offers free parking at 414 E Temple St.
2. Are any events 21+ only?
Most are all-ages! Exceptions:
- Afro-Latino Fest has a 21+ cocktail bar area (but the fest itself is all-ages)
- Bar Bene fundraiser serves wine — likely 21+ for drinks
- St. Vincent at the Bowl is all-ages, but alcohol sales are 21+
3. What should I bring to outdoor events?
- Blanket or low lawn chair (especially for Beach Movies, Afro-Latino Fest, KCRW at CAAM)
- Water bottle (refill stations often available)
- Light jacket — evenings near the beach/Bowl get chilly
- Cash for food trucks/vendors (some take cards, but cash is faster)
4. Can I just show up to free events, or do I really need to RSVP?
For FA events with "RSVP recommended" (like KCRW at CAAM, Afro-Latino Fest, SheroCon), please RSVP. It helps organizers plan capacity and guarantees your spot. It takes 30 seconds!
5. What if it’s super hot? (It is July, after all.)
- Indoor/cool options: LAMAG, ESMoA, CAAM galleries, Valley Relics Museum (SheroCon), Getty (Gardens have shade + indoor galleries)
- Water-adjacent: Dockweiler Beach (ocean breeze), Hollywood Bowl (misty evenings)
- Evening events (most start 5 PM+) avoid peak heat
