Nickit Community Day: Times, Shiny Odds & Best Moveset!

Pokémon Go August 2026 Community Day: Everything You Need to Know About Nickit!

Mark Your Calendar!
When: Sunday, August 16, 2026 | Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM (your local time)
Bonus Hours: Event bonuses last until 9:00 PM local time!

What Is a Community Day? (ELI5 Explanation)

Think of Community Day like a big Pokémon block party! Once a month, Niantic (the game makers) picks one special Pokémon. For three hours, that Pokémon appears everywhere – like confetti at a parade! You get:

  • Boosted shiny chances (sparkly, rare color versions)
  • Better stats (stronger Pokémon)
  • Special bonuses (extra candy, stardust, etc.)
  • An exclusive move if you evolve it during the event

This month’s star: Nickit – the sneaky little fox Pokémon!

Meet Nickit & Thievul

Pokémon Type Evolution
Nickit Dark Evolves into Thievul with 50 Nickit Candy
Thievul Dark Final evolution

Nickit is a cute orange fox with a black mask. Thievul is its grown-up form – a clever, red fox with a fancy mustache!

How to Catch a Shiny Nickit

Pro Tip: This is the FIRST TIME EVER shiny Nickit appears in Pokémon Go!

What Does Shiny Nickit Look Like?

  • Regular Nickit: Orange with black markings
  • Shiny Nickit: Silver/white with blue ears, eye sockets, paws, and tail tip
  • Shiny Thievul: Darker blue on its back instead of red

Steps to Find One:

  1. Open the game during event hours (2–5 PM local time)
  2. Tap every Nickit you see on the map
  3. Watch for the sparkle! A shiny has:
    • A sparkle animation when it appears
    • A shiny icon () next to its name
    • Different colors (silver + blue instead of orange + black)
  4. Catch it! Use Pinap Berries for extra candy

Boost Your Odds: Use an Incense (lasts 3 hours during event!) to attract MORE Nickit to you. More encounters = better shiny chances!

Hunting for "Perfect" Nickit (100% IV / "Hundo")

What’s IV?
IV = Individual Values – hidden stats (Attack, Defense, HP) from 0–15 each.
15/15/15 = 100% perfect = "Hundo" (community slang for "hundred percent").

Why Care?

  • Best for Master League battles
  • Fills your 4-star Pokédex
  • Strongest for raids

Target CP Values (If You’re Level 30+):

Weather Level Perfect IV CP
Normal 30 612 CP
Foggy (boosts Dark types) 35 663 CP

Important: These numbers only work if you’re Trainer Level 30 or higher. Below level 30? The max CP will be lower.

How to Check:

  1. Catch a Nickit with CP 612 (normal) or 663 (foggy weather)
  2. Tap Appraise (bottom menu)
  3. Look for three red bars and three stars with a red stamp!

Exclusive Move: Icy Wind for Thievul!

How to Get It:

Evolve Nickit → Thievul during:

  • Event hours: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Bonus window: Until 9:00 PM (4 hours after event ends)

Icy Wind Stats:

Battle Type Power Energy Cost
Trainer Battles (PvP) 60 45
Gyms & Raids 65 33

Why It’s Cool:

  • Ice-type – great against Dragons (very common in Master League!)
  • Guaranteed 20% Attack drop on opponent
  • Legacy move – normally unavailable!

Strategy Tip: WAIT until the end of the day to evolve! Catch lots first, check IVs, then evolve your best Nickit.

FAQ

Q: I’m only Level 20. Can I still get a perfect Nickit?

A: Yes! But the max CP will be lower than 612. Focus on catching during foggy weather for Level 35 spawns, and check appraisal for 3 red bars!

Q: Do I need to pay for the Special Research?

A: The paid research ($1-ish) gives extra rewards, but all main bonuses (shinies, IVs, move, bonuses) are FREE for everyone!

Q: What if I evolve Thievul after 9 PM?

A: It won’t learn Icy Wind. You’d need an Elite Charged TM (rare item) to teach it later. Set an alarm for 8:45 PM!

Q: Is Thievul actually good in battles?

A: It’s a Great League niche pick – fragile but hits hard with Sucker Punch + Night Slash spam. Icy Wind helps in Master League against Dragons. Not a meta king, but fun!

Q: Can I get shiny Thievul directly?

A: No – shiny Thievul only comes from evolving a shiny Nickit. So catch that shiny Nickit first!

Final Tips

Golden Rule: Play at your own pace! Whether you catch 10 or 100 Nickit, the goal is fun. Shiny hunting is random – you might get one in 5 taps or 500. That’s the game!

Community Day is social: Join local Discord/Facebook groups, trade with friends (half Stardust!), and share your shiny screenshots!

Good luck, Trainer! May your Nickit be shiny, your IVs be perfect, and your Icy Wind freeze the competition!
