How Does the Tournament Work?
Double Elimination = Two Chances
- Not "one and done!" Teams must lose twice before they’re out.
- This means a team can lose their first game and still win the whole tournament by fighting through the "loser’s bracket."
The Road to the Championship
- Pool Play / First Round: All 20 teams start playing.
- Double Elimination Brackets: U.S. teams play U.S. teams; International teams play International teams.
- U.S. Championship (Saturday, August 29): Last U.S. team standing.
- International Championship (Saturday, August 29): Last International team standing.
- LLWS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP (Sunday, August 30): U.S. Champ vs. International Champ → ONE WORLD CHAMPION!
IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
- 20 teams total: 10 U.S. + 10 International
- Double elimination: Lose twice → you’re out
- Two separate brackets until the final game
- Championship game: Sunday, August 30
- Games at two stadiums: Lamade Stadium (main) & Volunteer Stadium
- Rain happens! Check schedules daily for changes

FAQ
1. What ages play in the Little League World Series?
Players are typically 10 to 12 years old (league age). It’s for the "Major Division" of Little League Baseball.
2. Where is the LLWS played?
All games are in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania at two stadiums:
- Howard J. Lamade Stadium (main stadium, seats ~40,000)
- Volunteer Stadium (smaller, seats ~5,000)
3. How does a team qualify for the LLWS?
Teams win their local league → district → sectional → state → regional tournaments. The 10 U.S. regional champs and 10 international regional champs earn a trip to Williamsport!
4. What does "double elimination" mean?
A team isn’t eliminated after one loss. They move to a "loser’s bracket" and keep playing. Only after a second loss are they out. The winner of the winner’s bracket and winner of the loser’s bracket face off in the final (with the loser’s bracket team needing to beat the winner’s bracket team twice to win it all).
5. Can I watch the games on TV or online?
Yes! Games are broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC. You can also stream on ESPN+ and the ESPN App. Check local listings for exact channels and times.
