‘Tata’s legacy will continue to guide future business leaders’: Amit Shah – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday condoled the demise of veteran industrialist and philanthropist, Ratan Tata, acknowledging the chairman’s immense role in making Tata group a beacon for Indian industry, and said that his legacy will continue to guide future generations in the industry.
“Tata’s legacy will remain as an inspiration for all business leaders in the years to come.He will continue to be a role model for all business leaders,” Shah said while addressing the annual session of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi.
“Shri Ratan Tata passed away yesterday. I extend my heartfelt tributes to him. He was a respected industrialist not just in India but the world. He took on leadership of Tata Group at a time when it was important for the Tata Group to make changes. He transformed the way of working and the many businesses of Tata Group,” Shah said, news agency ANI reported.
“The business group under the leadership of Ratan Tata ji did a lot of work in many other areas including education and cancer treatment. Ratan Tata’s legacy will guide people in the industry,” he added.
The home minister further elaborated that under Tata’s guidance, the Tata Group underwent a transformation in its operations and various businesses, leaving a lasting impact on the Indian industrial landscape and nurturing millions of dreams.
“As chairman of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata brought reforms to its working ethos and helped it grow into a formidable industrial group while following all rules and regulations,” Shah said.
Tata, who transformed the Tata Group into a $100 billion global powerhouse, passed away at the age of 86 after a prolonged illness. He died on Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
The union minister is set to attend the funeral of industrialist Ratan Tata and pay his last respects on behalf of the Government of India.
“As you all know we lost Ratan Tata yesterday. I will need to go to Mumbai today. I pay my heartfelt tribute to him. Ratan Tata ji was a very respectful industrialist,” Shah had said at an event in Delhi, news agency PTI reported.
The Maharashtra government has announced that Ratan Tata will be accorded a state funeral. His mortal remains will be taken to the Prayer Hall at Worli Crematorium on Dr E Moses Road, where the final rites will be conducted after 4 pm.
Earlier sharing a post on X, Amit Shah had said: “Deeply saddened by the demise of legendary industrialist and true nationalist, Shri Ratan Tata Ji. He selflessly dedicated his life to the development of our nation. Every time I met him, his zeal and commitment to the betterment of Bharat and its people amazed me.”
“His commitment to the welfare of our country and its people led to the blooming of millions of dreams. Time cannot take away Ratan Tata Ji from his beloved nation. He will live on in our hearts. My condolences to Tata Group and his countless admirers. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti,” he added.
