'This year is even more special': PM Modi extends birthday wishes to LK Advani

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended birthday greetings to veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani and lauded his contributions to the country and the party.
Taking to X, PM Modi said that the 98th birth anniversary of Advani is even more special as he was conferred Bharat Ratna for his outstanding service.
“Best wishes to Shri LK Advani Ji on his birthday. This year is even more special because he was conferred the Bharat Ratna for his outstanding service to our nation. Among India’s most admired statesmen, he has devoted himself to furthering India’s development,” PM Modi said.

“He has always been respected for his intellect and rich insights. I am fortunate to have received his guidance for many years. I pray for his long and healthy life,” he added.
Union home minister Amit Shah also wished Advani on his birthday and said that he played an important role in making BJP a symbol of public welfare.
“Heartiest birthday wishes to Bharat Ratna respected Shri Lal Krishna Advani ji. Advani ji played an important role in making BJP a symbol of public welfare by displaying his unique public service and organisational skills. Under his leadership, the organisation of BJP became strong and widespread,” Shah said in a post on X.

“His work as the former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of the country is extremely inspiring. I pray to God for his good health and long life,” he added.
Born in 1927 in Karachi, Advani was the minister of home affairs in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government from 1998 to 2004. He also served as the Deputy Prime Minister under Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 2002 to 2004. He is one of the co-founders and a senior leader of the BJP. Advanni began his political career as a volunteer of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Earlier this year, the BJP stalwart was conferred Bharat Ratna, country’s highest civilian honor
In 2015, Advani was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honour.
