Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from the High Potential season 2 finale. If you haven’t watched it yet, be careful!
Imagine a TV show about a very smart woman named Morgan Gillory (played by Kaitlin Olson) who helps the police solve crimes. She works with a detective named Adam Karadec (played by Daniel Sunjata). They are really good at solving mysteries, but they also have a fun, tricky friendship that could maybe become something more.
Here are the main folks to know:
The show is a drama (a serious, story-driven show) where they solve crimes for the LAPD, and there’s always more going on than what we first see—both at work and in their personal lives.
A "cliffhanger" is when a story stops at a super exciting or scary moment, and you don’t know what happens next—like dangling off the edge of a cliff!
It’s been almost three months since season 2 last aired on TV, and fans are already excited for what’s next. Here’s what happened at the end:
Important: The season 2 finale left us with a major mystery—we don’t yet know if Captain Wagner lives or dies!
Many fans wondered: “Will High Potential come back in 2026?” (2026 is the year after this one.)
The answer is no.
Important: High Potential will not return in 2026. It is expected in midseason 2027.
The head of Disney Television Group (a big company that makes shows), Craig Erwich, explained the plan. In simple words, he said:
“Our focus has always been simple: Make the best shows on television and get them to audiences however they want to watch. That strategy continues to drive the success of ABC and Hulu (a place to watch shows online)—from legacy hits being embraced by new generations to breakout series becoming the next cultural touchstones. With a standout slate of comedies, dramas, unscripted and live programming, alongside marquee events like the Super Bowl (a huge football game), the College Football Playoff, the Grammys, and the Oscars in 2027, our content engine is firing on all cylinders.”
So they are saving High Potential for later to make the schedule balanced and fun for viewers.
On May 12, Kaitlin Olson (who plays Morgan) walked a red carpet (a fancy event for stars) in New York City and talked about season 3. She said in a clip posted on Instagram:
From this, we know season 3 will explore:
Let’s recap the key points so nothing is missed:
We’ll just have to wait to find out what happens next!
1. Is High Potential coming back for season 3?
Yes! It’s confirmed for season 3, but it will arrive in midseason 2027, not 2026.
2. What happened at the end of season 2?
Captain Nick Wagner was stabbed by a mysterious attacker, and we don’t know if he survived. That’s the cliffhanger!
3. Who are the main characters?
Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) and Detective Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) are the crime-solving duo. Captain Nick Wagner (Steve Howey) is Morgan’s love interest.
4. Why is the show delayed until 2027?
The network (ABC/Disney) has a big plan to release shows at certain times alongside other hits and events, so they held it for midseason 2027.
5. Will Morgan and Karadec get together?
We don’t know yet! Kaitlin Olson says there’s a “will they or won’t they” tension, plus heartbreak, so we’ll have to watch season 3 to find out.
