Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said he got two calls from non-state agencies telling him Senator Mitch McConnell might have died — before McConnell’s July 12 health update. Beshear was upset about the silence and asked for answers for the public. He didn’t say which agencies called him.
1. Who is Andy Beshear?
He is the Governor of Kentucky, which means he is the top leader of that state.
2. Who is Mitch McConnell?
He is a Senator, which is a person who helps make laws for the United States. He is from Kentucky.
3. Did McConnell actually die?
No. The calls said he might have, but he later sent a health update from his hospital bed on July 12.
4. Why was Beshear concerned?
Because he and the public were not told clearly how McConnell was doing, and he felt people deserved to know.
5. Where did this interview happen?
On Katie Couric’s YouTube channel, and it was also shared on her Facebook page.
