- Angel Reese, star player for the Atlanta Dream (a professional women’s basketball team), now has her very own Barbie Signature doll.
- The doll celebrates Reese not just as an athlete, but as a role model for young Black girls everywhere.
- Reese’s Angel C. Reese Foundation just gave away school supplies to 1,000 Atlanta-area families at a Back to School Bash.
- This is about representation, community, and inspiring the next generation.
Imagine walking into a store and seeing a doll that looks like you — same hairstyle, same style, same confidence. That’s what happened when Mattel (the company that makes Barbie) released the Angel Reese Barbie Signature doll in late July.
Angel Reese’s Message to Girls
"Having my own Barbie doll is a true dream come true… It’s about showing girls that there are no limits to what they can achieve. I hope this doll reminds girls to be unapologetically themselves, embrace every part of who they are, and go after their dreams with confidence."
Alastair brought his daughter to an Atlanta Dream game, holding the new Angel Reese Barbie. He said:
"I am so happy that Angel Reese is here in Atlanta. Whatever I can do to support her, her career and Black women in this sport, happy to do so."
He called the doll "a long time coming."
This wasn’t just Mattel working alone. Three big names came together:
| Partner | What They Did |
|---|---|
| Barbie | Created the Signature doll with Angel’s exact look |
| Reebok | Made special Angel Reese 1 "Barbie" basketball shoes (pink accents, co-branded) — in adult and kids’ sizes |
| TOGETHXR | Women’s sports media company (Angel is now a co-owner!) — hosted the doll’s debut at their house during WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago |
Bonus: Angel also collaborated on a limited-edition apparel collection inspired by the doll’s outfit!
On Monday, the Atlanta Dream will host their first-ever Barbie Game Day against the Las Vegas Aces.
While the doll was making headlines, Angel was busy doing what she does best — helping her community.
Angel to the Crowd:
"Being able to bring this to Atlanta means a lot to me. You guys have poured into me since I’ve been here, and I’ve only been here for maybe three months now. I’m gonna continue to pour into you guys as much as I can."
McKinley is an Atlanta student who waited to meet Angel. She said:
"I just like Angel Reese. I know she did it when she was in Chicago with her old team. I think it’s nice that she brought it to Atlanta for us."
She added: "It gets them engaged with kids in the community."
"If you have the means, it’s really great when you’re able to give back."
