1Things are starting to get exciting in the Big Brother house! All the players (called Houseguests) have moved in, and the fun competitions have begun. On the longer 90-minute Wednesday TV episode, we got to see the Power of Veto competition. We’ll explain who won it and whether they used it to change things.
After 14 new Houseguests moved into the house, three reality TV veterans (people who were on other shows before) joined the game too:
These three are called “alums” because they are past contestants on reality TV.
Out of the 14 new players, 12 competed in games to stay safe and to bring one of the alums into the house.
The following three people won their games and were safe for the week:
After a player named Rachel Reilly was “killed off by a dinosaur” (a funny twist in the show), Angela, Rick, and Dee competed in the first HOH competition.
What is HOH? HOH stands for “Head of Household.” The winner is the boss for the week and is safe from being voted out.
Here’s how the competition worked:
The team that finished with the fewest puzzle pieces when a winner was named became Have-Nots for the week.
What is a Have-Not? Have-Nots are people who, for one week, can only eat a gross food called “slop,” take cold showers, and sleep on a weird bed that spins and makes noise.
We will keep updating competitions and who gets sent home each week. Here is what happened in week one:
Dee chose three people to be up for possible eviction (being sent home):
She picked one person from each team to be fair. Because there are three nominees, the ones still on the block by eviction night will play in a special game called the Blockbuster.
What is the Blockbuster? The nominees who are still in danger play this game. Whoever wins is safe, and the other two face the house vote.
Mallory was the first to put the pieces together correctly, so she won the POV.
What is POV? POV means “Power of Veto.” The winner can take someone (including themselves) off the nomination list.
Mallory used it on herself (no surprise!). Dee then replaced her with Ashley Trail, who wasn’t on anyone’s team on premiere night.
The final three nominees are:
- 14 new Houseguests + 3 reality TV alums = 17 players total
- Dee is HOH and safe
- Final nominees: Yash, Taylor, Ashley
- First eviction happens Thursday

Big Brother, Season 28
In week one of Big Brother 28, 14 new players and 3 reality TV alums entered the house. Twelve newbies competed for safety, and Jason, Chuk, and Rome won. Dee became HOH after a fire-puzzle game. She nominated Yash, Mallory, and Taylor. Mallory won the POV and saved herself, so Ashley took her spot. The final nominees are Yash, Taylor, and Ashley, and the first eviction is on Thursday. Watch the live feeds to learn the result early!
