Heads up! This article tells the ending of season eight of Love Island USA on Peacock (a TV streaming service like Netflix). If you haven’t watched the finale, stop reading so you don’t ruin the surprise!
Imagine a group of people go to a sunny island to meet and try to find a boyfriend or girlfriend. They live together on TV, and viewers at home watch them fall in love or get their hearts broken. At the end, fans vote for the cutest couple to win money.
After a season full of happy moments, sad moments, and lots of love, the show finished. Fans got to pick which couple should get the grand prize of $100,000 (they split it, so each person gets $50,000).
The final four couples were:
Here is how they placed:
Important Point: Trinity and Bryce got the most love from America and took home the cash!
Bryce was super shocked and happy. He said (in simple words): "I feel like I’m in a dream. Walking up here, I think, is this really happening?" Trinity was also overjoyed and said she never expected to be in that spot. They even told each other "I love you."
Peacock (the company that makes the show) shared two bits of news:
At first, they seemed like just friends, not girlfriend-boyfriend. But their love was a "slow burn" (that means it took a long time to grow).
There is a part of the show called Casa Amor (say: CAH-sa ah-MOR, Spanish for "love house"). It’s a test where islanders are split into two houses to see if they will cheat or stay loyal. That’s when Trinity and Bryce realized they really liked each other. When they came back together, they became a strong pair and officially became a couple before the show ended.
(There was also a photo of them on the show taken by Ben Symons for Peacock.)
Even though Trinity and Bryce were fine, other islanders had fights and silly moments:
Also, two people — Alannah Keyser and Vasana Montgomery — were sent home because old social media posts showed them using a very hurtful word (the N-word, which is a racist slur). They both said sorry.
Ariana Madix talked to The Hollywood Reporter (a news website about TV). She said the show has become a big deal. Over the last two seasons, it became a cultural phenomenon (everyone was talking about it). The eighth season had the biggest start ever — it was the top show on the Nielsen streaming charts (a list that counts how many people watch shows online) in its first week, with the most premiere views to date.
She also praised the casting team (the people who pick the contestants). Because the islanders don’t meet before the show (unlike scripted shows where actors practice), it’s like magic when they put them together and sparks fly.
All episodes of season 8 are on Peacock right now. You can also read more about the season on The Hollywood Reporter‘s website.
