Wimbledon is one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the whole world. Think of it like the Super Bowl of tennis — it’s the third major tournament of the year, and fans wait all year for it. It takes place in London, England, on famous grass courts at a place called Church Road.
The tournament starts tomorrow, and already, tennis fans everywhere are buzzing!
The very first match features Jannik Sinner, who is the current defending champion (meaning he won last year). As tradition dictates, the reigning champion always plays first on the Center Court — the most important court at Wimbledon.
Here’s what you need to know:
Important Point: The last time these two met was right here at Wimbledon in 2024 — Sinner won easily, losing only 7 games the entire match.
Sinner will be playing his 13th career match on Center Court. He’s only lost 3 times there, and two of those losses were against none other than Novak Djokovic. His most recent loss on that court was to Daniil Medvedev in 2024.
There will be two other Italian players competing tomorrow besides Sinner:
Tomorrow’s lineup is stacked with tennis superstars. Here’s the highlight:
| Player | Court | What Makes It Exciting |
|---|---|---|
| Aryna Sabalenka (WTA No. 1) | Center Court | Opens play vs. Teodora Kostovic |
| Emma Raducanu (UK No. 1) | Court 1 | First match of the day — huge British hope! |
| Daniil Medvedev (No. 8 seed) | Court 1 | Two-time Wimbledon semifinalist; last person to beat Sinner at Wimbledon! |
| Casper Ruud vs. Hubert Hurkacz | Court 3 | Ruud struggles on grass, but Hurkacz is a 2021 semifinalist and thrives here! |
| Rafael Jodar | Court 3 | Playing his very first grass-court match ever! |
Important Point: Keep an eye on the Daniil Medvedev vs. Marin Cilic match on Court 1! Cilic was a Wimbledon finalist in 2017, and Medvedev is always dangerous on grass despite being better known for hard courts.

Wimbledon 2026 begins tomorrow in London on the famous grass courts!
Wimbledon is one of the four biggest tennis tournaments in the world (called "Grandslams"). It’s the only one still played on real grass, making it extra special and unique.
Jannik Sinner is the defending champion and the current World No. 1, making him a top favorite. But Novak Djokovic has won Wimbledon seven times, so he’s always a threat!
Matches start at different times across different courts, with the first matches beginning around 12:00 PM Italian time. Sinner’s match starts at 2:30 PM, and Djokovic plays around 6:30 PM.
In Italy, Wimbledon is shown on Sky Sport, which requires a subscription. However, NOW TV offers a more flexible streaming option starting at €19.99/month with no long-term contract.
Because he is a 7-time Wimbledon champion! Tournament organizers give the biggest stages to the most successful and popular players, especially for high-profile matches.
